Kirstie Turner brings a wealth of experience in investment banking and treasury management to her role as Head of Short Term Funding and Investment and Risk Management at National Grid. Her career began with a rapid ascent to a top trading position at a prestigious AAA-rated investment bank, where she was initially the only female trader in a world dominated by men. Kirstie successfully navigated significant financial events, including the ERM GBP Crisis, the Dot-com bubble, 9/11, and the 2008 Financial Crisis.
As a Front Office Treasury Cash Manager, Kirstie managed global cash operations for Tesco, focusing on hedging FX exposures and encouraging suppliers to invoice in foreign currencies. Her role involved detailed analysis of daily cash flows and collaboration with business heads on budget planning and strategic initiatives.
Kirstie's tenure as Senior Treasury Cash Manager saw her establish a treasury capability in Europe for Google, first in London and then in Dublin. She helped implement an innovative Google’s first Treasury Management System developed by SAP and in collaboration with Google engineers, working across London, Dublin, and Silicon Valley.
In her role as Front Office Treasury Manager at Reckitt, Kirstie adeptly managed large exposures to Russia and Ukraine, navigating the complexities of the Rouble’s volatility and ensuring smooth operations despite banking challenges.
Currently, as Head of Short-term Funding and Risk Management at National Grid, Kirstie manages FX and short-term cash requirements and more recently oversaw the investment of the £7Bln National Grid’s rights issue proceeds. She ensures optimal hedging of FX Capex projects in the financial markets and collaborates closely with joint venture partners and banking groups to guarantee execution excellence and best pricing.
